Thung Wat Don Sub District

There are three sub-districts in Sathon. Thung Wat Don sub-district is one of them and is where the Sathon District Office is located along with the Lumpini Police Station. part of it also borders the BRT system.

Thung Mahamek School was first opened in 1964 on an area of approximately five rai. The school struggled in its early years and had to do things like borrow desks from Saen Nam Tho School and even rely on tap water from neighboring houses.

Today there have been several upgrades and new buildings constructed including a multi-purpose building for teaching and learning, a cafeteria and a computer room. The school is for students from primary to grade six.

The Teochew Cemetery is an interesting place to visit. It covers an area of about 100 rai or about 40 acres. The area is also known as Wat Don Graveyard. First opened in 1900, the site is a burial ground for Chinese immigrants.

There are hundreds of tombstones to be found and the place is said to be haunted by many. The site had become quite run down, so in 1996 the place was renovated and now there is a public park with the tombstones preserved.

The Thung Wat Don real estate market appears to be strong with median list price for condos rising by 10.9% in the past year. The median price for condo rentals is 16,000 THB. Rentals are returning a 3.5% yield.
