Bangkhlo Sub District

DISTRICT: Bang Kho Laem

POSTCODE: 10120

Bang Khlo is close to central Bangkok to the east and is a sub-district of Bang Kho Laem. Located very centrally it is a fairly compact part of Bangkok.

There are many good temples in this area to visit, Wat Bang Khlo Nok, Wat Sai Rama III, and Wat Ruangyod Suttharam.

Monks at the three hundred year old Wat Sai Rama were very perplexed recently when they were ordered to chime their bells more softly by local government officials. As the residents of new condominium developments were complaining.

But a member of the Sangha Supreme Council has ruled that the abbot can tell his monks to keep on ringing their ancient bells as they have always done, as the temple was here a long time before the swanky new apartment buildings.

And if it is green places that you enjoy to take time out from the hustle and bustle of the manic city, then a great place to relax and enjoy yourself is a public park that was opened on behalf of the Commemoration of H.M the King’s 6th Cycle Birthday.

The views from the park are simply stunning with wonderful river views complemented by those of the city’s skyline. It is a great place to take a picnic and just chill.

Some of the most expensive real estate to be found in Bangkok is in Bang Khlo including, the impressive Star View, and the Rama III Tower. Obviously such prestigious buildings set the tone in terms of prices.

A great place to dine and get a flavor of authentic Thai cuisine for very reasonable prices is Kaiyang Klang Krung. The restaurant specializes in the cuisine of northeast Thailand and is absolutely packed at the weekends. If you are looking for authentic papaya salad, and tender grilled chicken then you will not be disappointed.

Bang Khlo is an excellent location if you want to live life right in the heart of the city, but prices may decide if this is the location for you.
