Chorakhebua Sub District

Chorakhebua Sub District

DISTRICT: Lat Phrao

POSTCODE: 103100

Chorakhe Bua is a sub-district of Lat Phrao and is located to the northeast of the center of Bangkok. The meaning of Lat Phrao is Slope of Coconut, and the seal of the district shows a coconut with two fresh leaves.

Because of its distance from the center of Bangkok, Chorakhe Bua is not serviced by Bangkok’s two premier transportation networks the BTS or the MRT. The best way to travel there from Central Bangkok is by bus or car.

There are many villages that make up Chorakhe Bua such as Rani 2, Friendship, Prasan Mit, and Samitchot. These villages contain a mixture of traditional Thai architecture and new builds.

Also in the area are some important university buildings, Kasetsart, Sripatum, and Chandrakasem and many students frequent the local restaurants and markets taking advantage of the cheap and delicious Thai food.

As far as shopping is concerned the main mall near Chorakhe Bua is the Central Plaza Ramindra. Located out on Ram Intra Road you can find this impressive mall.

As well as the retail stores you would expect from a Central Festival store, the Ramindra mall has a great food selection. The usual suspects are there such as MK and KFC, but there are also outlets selling freshly cooked Thai food that is of a high quality and not expensive.

If you prefer markets then take a trip to Liab Duan Night Market at Ram Inthra, the selection of products is good and there are many outlets selling inexpensive street food.

Another alternative for retail therapy is the Walk Kaset-Navamin, a smaller mall with a good Index outlet, it also has a small organic supermarket and a huge food hall in the basement, plus also a good choice of restaurants on the upper floors.

Chorakhe Bua is a good place to live if you are a student or want to pay a little less for your accommodation.
