DISTRICT: Thon Buri
POSTCODE: 10600
Dhao Khanong is one of seven sub-districts that make up Thon Buri district. The sub-district is a slice of land that starts at the Talat Phlu BTS Skytrain station. It shares a border with sister sub-district Bukkhalo before widening and finishing at the Chao Phraya River.
One of the most popular features of Dao Khanong is their night market. The Indy Night Market at Dao Khanong is one of three Indy markets in Bangkok. As one of the few such markets on the Thon Buri side of the Chao Phraya River, it is very popular with people in the area.
The market is not widely visited by tourists as many of them find it a bit far from traditional tourist spots, but there is a great selection of things to buy, lots of food and relaxing bars and even live music.
Wat Klang Dhao Khanong is located near the sub-districts border with the Chao Phraya River. This ornate temple is decorated with gold and illuminated at night. The Dhao Khanong High School is also located near the intersection of the Chao Phraya River and Khlong Dan.
Because of it having waterfront access, Dao Khanong is also home to some luxury condominiums that take advantage of the views. One of these is called The River Bangkok.
The complex was completed in 2012. One of the advantages of being on the Thon Buri side of the river is that views over the river look into central Bangkok. Rental prices start at 30,000 THB for a studio unit. If you want something larger, a five bedroom duplex can be bought for just over 85 million THB
