Hiran Ruchi is one of seven sub-districts of the Thon Buri District. The population at just over 12,200 has been decreasing at a rate of about 200 per year since 2014 when the population stood at just over 13,000.

The boundary of Hiran Rucci includes covering about a quarter circle around Wongwian Yai hub. This puts it near the Wongwian Yai BTS Skytrain station.

Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University can be found near the centre of the sub-district on Isaraphab 15 Rd. It was established in 1896 under King Rama V. At that time it was called King’s College.

The University was awarded the Rayal award as Thailand’s most outstanding institute in 1995. Nine years later in 2004, it officially became a university. They can deliver education through to doctoral degree level

Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University participates in volunteer teaching projects. Since 1995 they send intern students to teach Thai language and Thai culture to Thai people living abroad. The countries most involved are the USA, Australia and New Zealand.

There are a few wats, or temples in the sub-district. This includes Wat Hiranruji, Wat Ban Sai Kai. Other places of worship include The Sacred Light Baptist Church and Ban Somdet Mosque.

Located just along the Bangkok Yai Canal is the at Pradittharam School (Wat Mon). There are some great photos on the internet of this religious school, but searching in English yields very little information other than rudimentary contact details.
