Maha Phruettharam is located in Central Bangkok and is a sub-district of Bang Rak. Situated  by Lumphini Park this area district is serviced by the BTS and the MRT networks and has many stations that make it easy for accessing the other areas of Bangkok.

In the past many Chinese people settled in this area of Bangkok and there is evidence of that everywhere you look, with many Chinese businesses and restaurants in the locality.

It is a mix of towering skyscrapers and traditional Thai buildings and the area represents what the archetypal foreigner’s idea of Bangkok is according to the movies.

Around Maha Phruettharam is some of the most expensive real estate in the whole of Thailand, never mind just Bangkok. The impressive skyline reflects this with towering condominium developments and swanky office buildings. All this includes the tallest building in Thailand, the MahaNakhon Tower. There are other giant structures that dominate the sky including the State Tower and the Jewelry Trade Center.

The area flings its business identity to one side at night and the area comes alive. Around the Patpong Night Market there are many cheap stores selling replica jeans and T-shirts, and other tourist mementos. This is also a notorious red-light district, and for those with a delicate disposition perhaps best avoiding.

Towards the river can be found some of the most luxurious hotels in Bangkok, such as the Shangri-La, and the Royal Orchid Sheraton.

Around Maha Phruettharam nearly all property is expensive to rent or buy, but after all it is one of the most desirable areas in the whole of Bangkok.
