The sub-district of Thanon Phaya Thai is one of four sub-districts that make up Ratchathewi District. It borders with its sister sub-district Thung Phaya Thai and also runs along the BTS Sukhumvit line which includes two stations, Phaya Thai and Victory Monument. It also splits Victory monument through the center with sister sub-district Thung Phaya Thai.
One of the most surprising things to find in the heart of the city of Bangkok is Santiphap Park. It literally means peace park. Santiphap covers eight acres and sits on land leased from the Crown Property Bureau. The park was opened on August 18 1998 honoring the end of World War II.
There have been over thirty species of birds spotted in the park. There is also a public address system at the park that at regular times broadcasts rules of the park, the national anthem and Thai music. Despite complaints by neighboring residents about the noise, the broadcasts have continued. The park is open 5:00 am to 9:00 pm daily and is used by some 2,000 to 4,000 people per day.
Phayathai Hospital 1 is part of the Phayathai Hospital group. The hospital occupies over 4 rai of land. They have the capacity to serve 1,500 patients per day and currently provide care for some 40,000 patients per month.
Suan Pakkad Palace is a museum that has displays of Thai antiques. The name translates to cabbage patch. Their assembly of five traditional Thai pavilions is considered one of the best displays of Thai architecture in Bangkok.
