DISTRICT: Lat Krabang
POSTCODE: 10520
Thap Yao is a sub-district of Lat Krabang and is located to the far east of the center of Bangkok. Thap Yao is north of Highway 7 and being one of the furthest sub-districts away from Central Bangkok it is only accessible by road.
Thap Yao is only a couple of kilometers east of Suvarnabhumi Airport and many people that live in the area work at the busy international airport.
The area is full of villages which include, Thio Son Village, Wat Sutaphot Community Village, Rung Arun Village, and Pirachai Village.
The housing is a mixture of traditional Thai architecture and modern detached brick homes.
The Royal Golf & Country Club is located at Thap Yao and although this golf club is a little dated it still has a good challenging course to test golfers.
Being so close to Suvarnabhumi Airport it is an ideal place to have a quick round before catching your plane. The club house also serves great food which is not too expensive.
Another places in the area that is well worth checking out is the Siam Serpentarium, and if you are interested in snakes it is a great place to learn more about them.
There are also kids zones, where children are actively encouraged to study about snakes and enjoy plenty of activities. There is also a decent cafe on site and a gift shop.
Thap Yao is roughly an hour from Bangkok, and there are plenty of workers who commute into the city on a daily basis. But it must be said that the rush-hour drive can be fairly tedious. It is however a great place to access the Eastern Seaboard and places like Pattaya and Rayong.
