Ao Ngoen is one of the three sub-districts that comprise the district of Sai Mai. It occupies much of the eastern part of Sai Mai which is one of the northernmost districts of Bangkok. The toll road Chalong Rat Expressway runs through the centre of Ao Ngoen.

Ao Ngoen is home to Rodeo Horse Riding. They operate a horse riding school which opened on April Fools day 2010. They teach both English style and cowboy style riding. They are open almost everyday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. The focus is horse riding for children and they offer special assistance to children with autism.

Project Point Thailand is a business that provides all manner of equipment related to elevators or lifts. In addition to normal passenger elevators, they have bed elevators, freight elevators and dumbwaiters. They also provide all of the machinery and equipment required.

The housing market in Ao Ngoen has been growing quite strongly in the past year. There are few if any condos for sale in the sub-district, but there are a reasonable number of houses available. The median price of a house is just over 6.5 million THB. This represents a growth of 14.7% over the past year. Renting a house will set you back on average 30,000 THB.

Though the district is heavily populated, it is still possible to find plots of land available for sale.
