Bangchak Sub District

DISTRICT: Phra Khanong District

POSTCODE: 10260

Bang Chak is one of only two sub-districts within Phra Khanong District. It should not be confused with another sub-district also called Bang Chak in the Phasi Charoen District. The Bang Chak BTS Skytrain station sits roughly in the middle of Phra Khanong.

The Bang Chak BTS station is on the Sukhumvit line and opened in 2011 as the first station of the extension from On Nut to Bearing. The area around the station features some popular Chinese restaurants and the Bang Chak Market is also nearby.

Not far from the station is the Jim Thompson Factory Outlet Store. This is part of a chain of stores with locations throughout Thailand as well as Myanmar and Singapore. They feature high end clothing, accessories and decor for men, women and children.

The Punnawithi BTS station follows the Bang Chak station, but is still within the sub-district. Like much of the rest of the sub-district, the area is mostly residential without much of interest to tourists with Piyarom Sports Club offering the greatest options for dining and shopping.

Nearby is the Anglo Singapore International School. They have two campuses in Bangkok and an additional one in Korat. The school was founded in 2003 with the objective of providing Singaporean residents of Thailand the same quality of education that they would receive at home.

The school has students ranging from kindergarten through the completion of secondary school. The first campus was on Soi Sukhumvit 31 and only had four students initially. The Soi Sukhumvit 64 campus in Bang Chak was completed in 2012 as the school expanded to over 500 students from twenty nationalities.
