Bang Na District

SUB DISTRICTS: Bang Na Nea, Bang Na Tai

AREA: 18.789 sq km (7.254 sq mi)

POPULATION: 90,852 (2017)

POSTCODE: 10260

Bang Na is one of the smallest districts in Bangkok in terms of population and area, and its biggest claim to fame is that it is one of the biggest transportation hubs of the capital of Thailand.

The Sukhumvit Road extension into Bang Na makes it one of the largest highways in the world, and the BTS Skytrain has three stations Bang Na, Bearing, and Udom Suk making it really easy to access Bang Na.

Bang Na station is only a five minute walk to BITEC (Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre) which is the city’s major exhibition and events center.

It regularly hosts prestigious events such as the Bangkok International Motor Show, and many international artists also appear at this venue.

Bang Na is also home to several temples, Wat Si Iam, Wat Bang Na Nok being just two of the more important ones.

Retail therapy can be found at the impressive Central Plaza Bangna which was formerly known as Central City, which was one of the very first malls in the area.

Central Plaza is huge and differs from the norm as shopping malls go as it also has a Water Theme Park, and the record breaking Royal Dragon Restaurant which up to 2008 was the world’s largest restaurant.

The sheer size of this gastronomic delight is awesome, all together this outdoor seafood restaurant covers 1.6 hectares in size, and it is so big that the waiters have to wear roller-skates to move between the tables and the kitchens.

There are many hotels and apartments in this area of Bangkok and because of the proximity of the BITEC are a little on the expensive side.
