Ban Phan Thom has two well known temples. Wat Mai Amataros also known as Wat Bang Khun Prom is famous for the amulets called the Somdet Wat Bang Khun Prom amulet. They are rare, highly prized and can be quite expensive. Wat Tri Thotsathep or the Built by Three Gods temple was originally planned by King Rama IV’s son Prince Supradit who passed away before completion. Prince Nopphawong then took on the project but also passed away before completion so King Rama IV then completed the project himself.
The sub-district is not very far from Khao San Road, and so there are several hostels located here. However, if you want to stay somewhere luxurious, consider the Chillax Resort. With a fine restaurant, lounge bar and infinity pool, this is a great getaway spot near so many tourist attractions.
