Khaosan Road. one of the most well known tourist destinations is located in Phra Nakhon. Khaosan Road was built in 1892 during the time of King Rama V. Khaosan translates to milled rice, and it is thought that in the early days it was likely home to a rice market.

The temple of Wat Bowonniwet is located in the district and is known for having ordained several Thai kinks as monks.

The riverfront of Phra Nakhon district between the King Rama I or Memorial Bridget and the Wasuki pier was submitted to UNESCO to be considered as a future world heritage site.

The Sala Chalermkrung Royal Theatre located on Charoen Krung Road in the district is Bangkok’s oldest cinema. It opened in 1993, was the first cinema in Thailand to have air conditioning and is the last remaining theater from the golden age of Thai cinema. Though it has been renovated, it no longer regularly shows movies. These days it is mostly used for Thai dance performances.
