DISTRICT: Chatuchak
POSTCODE: 10900
Chomphon is a sub-district of Chatuchak which can be found to the north of central Bangkok. The area south of Chomphon is famous for the Chatuchak Weekend Market (JJ Market) which is the largest of its kind in Thailand.
And to the west is Wachirabenchathat Park, and to the north is the great university of Chandrakasem Rajabhat. The university offers post-diploma certificate and degree level education from bachelor’s to masters and the occasional Ph.D in several majors.
There are many townhouses for rent and sale in Chomphon, and new developments turn this rather traditional form of accommodation into swish apartment-style modern accommodation.
There is also a few small condo developments offering very good quality accommodation, but these do tend to be a little pricey.
Retail therapy in Chomphon is provided by Ocean Shopping Mall, and although it may not be as big as the huge shopping malls in the city it does have a good selection of stores.
There are modern food outlets are well represented such as, Dairy Queen, KFC, and MK. And there is a kids playground upstairs to keep the young ones occupied whilst you shop.
If you prefer markets then pay a trip to Chumphon Night Bazaar, which many locals go to enjoy the wide choice of foods available. There are many coffee outlets that you can take time out, and it is only a short stroll from the train station.
Chumphon may not be the most elegant area of Bangkok, but it has all you need to get by and a good transportation network.
