The sub-district of Khlong Tan Nuea was originally part of the Khlong Toei District. In 1988, Khlong Tan Nuea along with the sub-districts of Khlong Toei Nuea and Phra Khanong Nuea were split to form the new district of Watthana.

The centre of Khlong Tan Nuea is located on Sukhumvit Soi 5 which is near the the Thong Lor BTS Skytrain station.

Bangkok International Primary and Secondary School are located near the center. This location is the head office and primary campus. The secondary campus is located nearby.

Many of the locations here are described as being in Thong Lor which interestingly translates to liquid gold. The Thong Lor police station appears to be located Khlong Tan Nuea.

The Thong Lor area of Khlong Tan Nuea has emerged into what many think is the trendies area in all of Bangkok. Previously this area was mostly commercial populatd with car dealerships and wedding showrooms.

Now, there are many trendy and arty places located here. The Thong Lor Art Space is one such place. It is a five story building catering to the art community both local and international artists.

The Paintbar Bangkok, also in Thong Lor is focused on, well painting. The motto here is “Because we don’t paint without sipping, we don’t sip without painting”. As you might expect, this is essentially a bar, but with painting.

Divine Yoga is another spot found here. They offer classes from beginner to advanced levels and boast luxury facilities for showering following your session.
