Khlongthanon Sub District

Khlong Thanon is one of the three sub-districts that comprise the district of Sai Mai. It occupies much of the western part of Sai Mai which is one of the northernmost districts of Bangkok. It runs right up to Phahonyothin Road which runs parallel to Don Mueang International Airport.

Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital lies near Phahonyothin Road. primarily a military hospital for the Royal Thai Air Force though they also server the general public. It is also a teaching hospital for the Royal Thai Air Force Nursing College and some students from Chulalongkorn University.

Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital opened in 1949 and had just 88 beds. Today they have nearly 700. It is planned that by 2020 the BST Sukhumvit line will be extended to reach the hospital.

The Maestro Tutoring School provides education from grade six through to grade twelve. Their methods provide for a customised education plan for the student. The stated goal is to help prepare the student for college. They have strong academics with a number of AP courses in maths and science along with IT and robotics. They also offer performing arts classes.

Also in Khlong Thanon is the Rittiyawannalai School. This is a Thai school and is for children up to grade twelve. It was first opened as a school for children of civil servants and members of the Air Force. When it was first opened in 1947, it was only up to grade three and there were 98 students and six teachers. Today is is believed that the school has over 4,000 students.
