Nong Bon sub-district sits roughly in the middle of the Prawet District. There are a total of 3 sub-districts in Prawet. Prawet is the closest of the Bangkok districts to Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Nong Bon features some notable recreation areas. King Rama IX Park features the largest green area in Bangkok. It has a botanical garden, a lake and gardens from around the world. The easiest way to get there from Bangkok is probably to take the BTS Skytrain to the Udom Suk station and catch a taxi from there. The park is open every day from 5:00 am to 6:00 pm. There is a nominal admission fee of ten baht per person.
Nong Bon Lake is located near King Rama IX Park. Nong Bon is a man made reservoir that is a recreational area that features a watersports centre. Here you can enjoy windsurfing, kayaking and sailing. They offer courses in the afternoon subject to instructor availability. There is also a four kilometre long bike and jogging path that is well lit and secured with closed circuit cameras. The area is also dog friendly, a rarity in public parks.
If shopping is your preference then be sure to visit the Paradise Park Shopping Centre. It is a modern five story mall that has just about everything. The mall is great place for children with Edutainment and Kids Zones. You can shop for items including Health and Beauty, IT, Jewelry, Sports and Fashion. Should all the shopping make you hungry or thirsty, you can find food and beverage on every floor.
