Pakkhlongphasicharoen Sub District

Pak Khlong Phasi Charoen is one of seven sub-districts that make up Phasi Charoen District on the west side of the Chao Phraya River. Khlong Phasi Charoen runs through the district starting at Khlong Bangkok Yai which borders the sub-district. The major thoroughfare through the sub-district is Phet Kasem Road.

Khlong Phasi Charoen runs for 30 km was completed in 1872 and is named after the man who oversaw the building project. It was intended that the canal would charge tolls to reimburse the private funding of the project. The funding turned out to come from tax deductions and thus the canal became toll free.

The BTS Station Bang Wa is actually not located in Bang Wa but in Pak Khlong Phasi Charoen. It is the only BTS station in the entire district.

There are several temples in the sub-district including: Wat Nang Chi Chotikaram, Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen, Wat Nak Prok and Wat Nuannorradit. Wat Nuannorradit is a very old temple that was deserted for many years prior to being restored. They also run the Wat Nuannorradit School which is a coeducational secondary school that was started in 1890.

Bang Phai Hospital serves the medical needs of the community. They were the first private hospital in Bangkok west of the Chao Phraya River. Te hospital opened in 1974 with 10 beds and expanded quickly to 100 beds in 1977. They are a full service hospital with clinics for pediatrics, optics, dental and surgery to name a few.
