Samwatawanok Sub District

DISTRICT: Khlong Sam Wa

POSTCODE: 10510

Sam Wa Tawan OK is a sub-district of Khlong Sam Wa which is one of the extreme outlying districts to the northeast of Central Bangkok.

Not being particularly close to the centre of Bangkok there is no MRT or BTS services to Sam Wa Tawan OK. And the only way to get to this part of northern Bangkok is by bus or car, with Highway 9 bordering the district to the west.

The surrounding area is very rural with a few trading estates dotted around. Housing is divided between villages and small new housing estates.

Very few tourists are to be found in this part of Bangkok, it has more in common with the rest of the rural community in this part of Thailand and most tourists are just passing through on their way to somewhere else.

The two most popular places to visit are Wari Phirom Park and Safari World. Safari World is a well known tourist destination that is actually two parks is one, featuring Safari Park and Marine Park. In 1995 it became the only entertainment park in Thailand to be listed of SET (Stock Exchange Thailand).

Occasionally there are a few large convenience places such as Big C, and Tesco Lotus on the main roads. The other retail outlets are local businesses that sell all manner of convenience and building goods.

The main commerce of the area is farming and the small villages give a real community spirit to their own areas.
