Samwatawantok Sub District

DISTRICT: Khlong Sam Wa

POSTCODE: 10510

Sam Wa Tawan Tok is a sub-district of Khlong Sam Wa which is one of the extreme outlying districts to the northeast of Central Bangkok.

Obviously being so far away from the centre of the city Sam Wa Tawan does not benefit from the high-speed transport networks of the BTS or MRT. The only way in and out of Sam Wa Tawan Tok is by road.

The area does not really benefit from tourism, and most of the residents are Thai’s that live in small villages or a few of the newer housing estates that are popping up.

The two most popular places to visit are Wari Phirom Park and Safari World. Safari World is a well known tourist destination that is actually two parks is one, featuring Safari Park and Marine Park. In 1995 it became the only entertainment park in Thailand to be listed of SET (Stock Exchange Thailand).

As for shops and retail therapy the area is pretty lean, there are a few large convenience places such as Big C, and Tesco Lotus. Other retail outlets are local businesses that sell a variety of goods.

Sam Wa Tawan Tok is mostly a rural area that is full of local villages consisting mostly of traditional Thai buildings. There are small markets dotted around and the cuisine in the area is almost totally regional Thai.

Housing is relatively inexpensive in this outlying district of Bangkok, and the only real option of transportation is by road.
