Sena Nikhom is a sub-district of Chatuchak which can be found to the north of central Bangkok. The area around Sena Nikhom is famous for the Chatuchak Weekend Market which is the largest of its kind in Thailand.

To the south of Sena Nikhom is Chandrakasem Rajabhat University which offers post-diploma certificate and degree level education from bachelor’s to masters and the occasional Ph.D in several majors.

The university was founded in 1940, and it became the first college for training secondary school teachers. And it was King Bhumibol Adulyadej who bestowed the current name on the university.

Sena Shopping Complex is located on Chandra Road and although it is not a large swanky mall there are some good retail and food outlets available. If you require more upmarket shopping then not too far away is Central Plaza Lat Phrao, which provides just about everything including a multi-screen cinema and a convention center.

One of the great landmarks of the area is the Elephant Tower which is definitely one of the most remarkable buildings in Bangkok. It is located on Ratchadaphisek Road and consists of three towers that make the building resemble an elephant.

Sena Nikhom is a popular place to live, and there are many modern small condominium developments in the area. Bangkok’s primary travel networks, the BTS and the MRT have many stations in the area which gives great access to Sena Nikhom.

There is also the Northern Bus Terminal at Chit Mai which connects buses to all the northern provinces.
