Somdet Chao Phraya is a sub-district of Klong San and is located to the northwest of the center of Bangkok. Obviously its location is right on the main river in Bangkok which is the Chao Phraya, and the district is one of the oldest areas of the capital.

The area has a good transportation network as it is serviced by the Skytrain with nearby stations of Wongwain Yai, and Krung Thonburi. There is also a major bus hub on the west side of the river.

One of the most remarkable buildings in the area is the forty-four storey Sinn Sathorn Tower which is one of the great condominium developments in the area.

Somdet Chao Phraya is a highly desirable place to live, the river location and the good transport network means that real estate developers have chosen to build many top apartment blocks in the area.

Being one of the oldest parts of Bangkok, Somdet Chao Praya has many interesting temples in the vicinity. Wat Anongkharam, Wat Sawettachat, Wat Phichai Yat, Wat Thong Thammachat and Wat Thong Nopphakhun.

If you love visiting markets then take a trip to Tha Din Daeng and its history can be traced back to the Ayutthaya period (King Uthong – to King Intharacha) as they have found evidence of a settlement there.

This area was also home to many industries as the river location made transportation of goods really easy. Rice mills, shipyards, sawmills, and warehouses could all be found on the banks of the river.

There are piers not far from Somdet Chao Phraya that offer ferry boat services on the river which again make this area really accessible.

Somdet Chao Praya has a great deal to offer residents and tourists and real estate prices reflect this.
