Thung Song Hong is a sub-district of Lak Si and is located north of Central Bangkok. Lak Si means fourth milestone, and the district was named so as it is where the fourth milestone of the Khlong Prem Prachakon canal is located.

Obviously this northern part of Bangkok is dominated by Don Mueang Airport and that is the major employer in the area. The rest of Lak Si area is very rural and farming is the most popular commercial industry.

Thung Song Hong is not on any of Bangkok’s primary transport networks and the only way in and out of this sub district is by pus or car. This restricts movement somewhat although very few tourists actually visit this part of Bangkok.

Around Thung Song Hong are many villages where traditional Thai wooden housing mixes with newer brick developments. There are few apartments buildings in this part of Bangkok, and housing is very affordable.

There is a main railway station at Lak Si that does connect the area around Thung Song Hong to other areas around.

If you enjoy playing golf then there are numerous courses in the area that are open to visitors, such as Rajpruek Club, Kantarat Golf Club, and the T.S.R Golf Course.

There are no large shopping malls in this northern part of Bangkok, most retail outlets are small privately owned concerns selling specialist goods, and convenience stores.
