Wang Burapha Phirom is one of twelve sub-districts that constitute Phra Nakhon District. Phra Nakhon has the most sub-districts of any district in Bangkok. Wang Burapha Phirom borders on the Chao Phraya River and shares part of its border along Rop Krung canal with sister sub-district Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang. With a population of 11,427, Wang Burapha Phirom comprises over 22% of the population of Phra Nakhon.
Right on the banks of the Chao Phraya River near the Memorial Bridge is the Statue Du Roi Rama I. It is an impressive statue in a public park that is lit up at night. The statue was made by Corrado Feroci and took three years to construct. It is a great place to relax and watch the sunset. Take some time and explore the the flower market nearby first.
A little further up the river is the Yodpiman river walk. It is situated on a beautiful part of the river that was once the centre of trade and the largest fish market during the Thonburi period. It was built by renovating an old river market. Today it is a lifestyle mall and a great place to take a break from sightseeing at the many attractions nearby. Naturally there are many great places to eat here. In addition to Thai restaurants there are a number of cafes and bistros. Yodpiman upholds the feel of old city Bangkok including a number of period fixtures.
