Anusawari Sub District

DISTRICT: Bang Khen

POSTCODE: 10220

Anusawari is a sub-district of Bang Khen and is located to the northeast of central Bangkok. Nearby are the barracks of the Thai Army and the 11th Infantry Division, which occupy a vast amount of land.

Anusawari is one of the outlying districts of Bangkok and as such does not have BTS or MRT services, although there is a railway station at nearby Bang Khen.

One of the main points of interest in the area was the Constitution Defense Monument which was built in 1936. It commemorates the failure of Prince Boworadet’s armed insurrection and revolt.

This reminder of Thailand’s democracy mysteriously disappeared in 2018, when it was taken by people unknown and has never been found. There were suspicions that it may have been removed for the upcoming Skytrain extension but this has been refuted by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority.

There are other places that still exist that are worth seeing, including: Wat Phra (the temple of holy relics), and Ying Charoen Market which is highly popular with local residents.

Anusawari is a fairly rural area, and the housing is mainly Thai-style architecture, townhouses, and small apartment buildings. However, if the planned extension to the BTS goes ahead it may be well worth looking at as a commuter area for Bangkok.
