Ratchadaphisek Sub District

DISTRICT: Din Daeng

POSTCODE: 10900

Ratchadaphisek is a sub-district of Din Daeng and can be found to the north of central Bangkok. The MRT line passes through the eastern part of this area and has five stations at, Phra Ram 9, Thailand Cultural Centre, Huai Khwang, Suttihsan, and of course Ratchadaphisek.

The whole area is densely populated for two reasons, firstly the great transport connections, and secondly there are many apartment buildings that were erected by the National Housing Authority.

The main highway in the area is Ratchadaphisek Road and it connects Asok Montri, Wong Sawan, and Charan Sanitwong roads to form Bangkok’s inner ring road system. The highway also crosses the main arteries of Sirat Expressway and Sukhumvit Road.

All this makes Ratchadaphisek Road one of the busiest highways in Bangkok and thousands of vehicles use it each and every day. So many shopping outlets have taken the advantage of this passing trade and the road is a major shopping centre.

There are malls and independent stores all jostling for a piece of real estate, and the whole area is serviced by the superb MRT. Some of the outlets to be found are the Esplanade, Fortune Town, The Street, Central Plaza Rama 9, and the highly popular Ratchada Night Bazar which is famous for its second-hand bargains.

The Esplanade is a seven-floor modern mall that has a sleek steel facade and looks very futuristic. You can find many brand name stores and also great restaurants.

If you love the cinema then head down to Central Plaza Rama 9 as it is home to a modern SFC Cineplex, and a Robinsons Department Store.

Ratchadaphisek is a busy and bustling place, there is plenty going on with bars and cafes dotted about. The great transport network links this area with the rest of Bangkok, and therefore property is at a premium here.
