Thung Maha Mek is one of three sub-districts that make up the Sathon District. Much of the District borders the Chao Phraya River, but Thung Maha Mek is not part of that. It does border sister sub-district Thung Wat Don. but as the BTS Skytrain lines takes a turn just before it arrives to the sub-district border.
Rajamangala University of Technology in Thung Maha Mek is one of nine universities of Rajamangala University of Technology. Prior to 2005 it was known as Rajamangala Institute of Technology when it was elevated to University status.
Nearby is the Sewing Machines Museum. If you are a keen sewer, you should not miss this as it has some of the most amazing antiques and original sewing machines showing how the craft has changed over the years.
Thung Maha Mek is home to Garden International School Bangkok. It delivers a British Curriculum to students from early years through to year thirteen. The school opened in 1999 with just six students. They now have over 240 students from over 40 countries.
The school was accredited by Oxford AQA and authorised to offer their international qualifications in 2017. The school provides home to school transport for students. They provide healthy food to their students including morning and afternoon snacks in addition to lunch. Garden International also has a full-time nurse on staff.
