Wongsawang Sub District

DISTRICT: Bang Sue

POSTCODE: 10800

Wong Sawang is a sub-district of Bang Sue and can be found almost directly north of the center of Bangkok. Bang Sue was formerly one of the eight outer districts of Bangkok that were called amphoes which were established during the reign of King Chulalongkorn.

Bang Sue station is part of the MRT Blue Line, and so makes access to other parts of the MRT and the BTS transport networks really easy. The interchange to the MRT Purple Line can be done at Tao Poon Station.

There is also a railway station at Bang Sue Junction, that connects with the Thai State Railway. All this is fairly easy to access from Wong Sawang.

There are no large department stores in Wong Sawang, and most of the shopping in the area consists of local stores and convenience outlets serving the local community.

The same really goes for eating and drinking, most restaurants serve Thai food with regional varieties. There are a few cafes and bars dotted about but nothing really of note to attract tourists or visitors.

One of the main attractions of the area is the Rama VI Bridge which was the first bridge to ford the Chao Phraya River when it opened in 1923. It was originally built to carry a single-track railway, and a single lane road that gave access to the west and south of Thailand.

Real estate in the area is traditional Thai wooden architecture and townhouses, so prices tend to be on the cheaper side as far as rentals go.
