Bangwa Sub District

DISTRICT: Phasi Charoen District

POSTCODE: 10160

Bang Wa is just one of seven sub-districts that make up Phasi Charoen District which is on the west side of the Chao Phraya River. The closest BTS station is the Bang Wa station which lies just outside of the boundary of the sub-district. Running through the middle of the district is a long canal which seems to change its name several times along the way.

The Bang Wa BTS Skytrain station is on the Silom line and the westernmost station in the network. The station was opened in 2013.

Phetkasem Hospital was first established in nearby Bang Khae in 1977 with 20 beds. It was a private hospital providing general services. Construction of Phetkasem 2 in Bang Wa began in 2010 with the hospital opening in 2011. It was built to serve the increasing number of patients and to expand the services provided. It is located just 1.3 km from the original hospital and has 149 beds.

At one end of the sub-district is the Taksin Bridge-Phet Kasem which also links with the Bang Wa BTS Station. It is one of about 14 piers along the Phasi Charoen Canal where you can ride on the canal boats. The trip from one in to the other takes about 50 minutes. During the week, boats run every 10-20 minutes  during commuter hours on weekdays, and on weekends every hour. The canal boats will take you on a very scenic tour and you can choose to get out at any pier along the way. There are several temples and markets along the canal and some beautiful scenery as well
